At the hospital where I work we must complete a series of modules annually that include bias training, but nothing on the intense level of your survey and the Diversity Science manual. The concept of a Sterotype Threat was new to me, and I wonder about its efficacity. Getting an African-American to overcome the threat of undervaluing their intellect or a woman to not fall into a Im not a leader mindset seem like complicated phenomena that can best be overcome by personal achievement. Still I understand that negative stereotypes of have a negative effects on every level in healthcare, and something more structured needs to be done.

I appreciated the learning experience for what it was. I learned that even if you dont know it yet, the stereotype can affect you in your performance and goals. I liked how there were 4 examples of different people who face different stereotypes.

I enjoyed the course. I think it did a great job of naming what stereotype threat is, what some concrete examples look like, and how to manage it in the workplace and to help others who might be experiencing it. It was very practical and helpful.

I thought this was extremely insightful and not something thay let people talk about. I actually had never had a learning experience about this and felt.like it is something that I will think about going forward as I never realized this could be why I have had issues with performance in the past. I really liked the different examples and being able to follow the same four characters throughout the lesson.

This course reminded me so much of college life for me. I went to a private Catholic college and most of the time, I was the only person of color in the class. I remember feeling overwhelmed at times and the course was very relevant to me, even now. I never knew there was a term stereotype threat, but now I do and I know the triggers for it.

I was actually surprised by the quality of the training - it was engaging, interesting, and not too repetitive or basic, like that type of training often is. And I can see that a lot of people could benefit from it, because stereotype threat is not something that is talked about so much, at least not among the groups I belong to - even though I can see now that so many people can be affected by it, basically because there are so many negative stereotypes in this world.
