Why This Course?

As clinicians, we strive to provide all our patients the highest quality of care.

Research has shown that our biases, although often unintended, can influence the way we treat patients from minority and marginalized groups. These biases can prevent us from providing equally high-quality care to patients who come from different backgrounds than we do.

This course will give you the knowledge and strategies to help you live your values - treating people fairly and without bias. Most importantly, it includes practical, evidence-based strategies to prevent unintended and implicit biases from affecting you, your staff, your colleagues, and the patients you serve.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate an understanding of findings from the mind sciences on why we unintentionally behave in biased ways that are not consistent with our true values.
  • Identify how biases negatively impact us and those around us, the medical diagnostic process, and patients’ trust and adherence to treatment.
  • Apply best practices for preventing unintended biases from affecting the care you provide to ensure quality and inclusive care for all your patients.

This educational training was on point and did not take lots of time to lost focus of the topic.
I really enjoyed that at the end you also focused on the physician's well being and mental health so we are more successful together with our patients…
Think the training was excellent due to the way it is grounded in research in the field.
This is an excellent training course. It should be mandatory for all employees.
It was very informative and had real life experiences. This course should be offered more frequently to all staff members.
I think there needs to be much more of this type of training.
I liked the case studies, very much in tuned to today's cultural biases.
Nicely done. Engaging. Easy to take in and remember facts.
